I have been craving caramel popcorn on and off for like a month now, but only decided to make it today 😅
My first time having ‘caramel popcorn’ was when I was visiting my uncle. His wife would make us popcorn with sugar. Yes, that’s how I knew it as, for such a long time.
Because my parents were a little strict on our sugar intake, I couldn’t get away with making it at home.
Then I grew up and that had evolved into what we now call caramel popcorn. It’s a little different than how my aunt used to do it, but it has somewhat the same taste.
As I prepare to continue watching Friends, I thought I could make us a snack.
How To Make Caramel Popcorn
Here’s what you’ll need:
A handful of un-popped corn kernels
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar (I had no brown sugar, so I used white)
What to Do
In your cooking pan, melt the butter, then add in the sugar and stir until it melts and blends in with the butter.
Add your un-popped corn kernels and mix them well in the butter/sugar mixture. As it starts to pop, cover your cooking pan and let them pop on low heat. Now, here, you must be careful to ensure that they don’t burn because they easily can.
Once the popping has reduced, uncover, and sprinkle a pinch of salt.
Let it cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy. 😊
