I love birthdays. As I grow older, I fall in love with birthdays more. There’s some fun attached to it.
A year ago, I took this journey of faith. I had been writing before then in a notebook of course. But I just didn’t know if I wanted to share it with the world yet. Every time someone wanted to read my notebook, I would refuse, telling them they will read it on my blog one day. When, I never knew. So when I eventually decided to give it a try, I wasn’t sure how long it would last.
Fast forward, here we are. A year old tomorrow, my heart is so full of joy and gratitude. I am writing this, taking a pause and feeling emotional.
I took this as my baby. There have been good days really good days, and days when I have felt I have no content, until the last minute when an idea strucks and bam! I have it.
How this came to be
My background is journalism and I have always been a writer. I always told myself I would want to be on the print side of the media. (People tell me I have a good smile), so I could do both print and news anchoring. Anyway, I had thought about writing for a while. I met a good friend of mine who stirred something in me and by the time we were done talking, I knew I was going to do it. Being determined, my first story came out the following week.
Why I decided to do it
When I started writing, I was not really sure about how all this would go. I knew I wanted it to be a personal blog though. The simple reason behind it was, to inspire the young, just like me. There are challenges people face and think others don’t go through the same. I wanted to ensure that through my writing, I remain as real as possible.
I am not so good at letting people into my life. This has however gone so well for me.
Favorite pieces
I see this as my baby. Every piece I have written has a special place in my heart. My favorites I would have to say are so many. The latest though is the one I wrote just last week. My highs and highs of 2017 was another. There are so many that it is quite hard to say which one.
My writing has grown so much and every day I get to learn something new not only in my writing, but also in the writing of others. This has enabled me interact with other writers, some of whom I have never met personally, but who continue to encourage and strengthen me.
It has been a journey that has filled me with so much joy. Interacting with you people especially on this blog and social media has pushed me even harder.
Starting this and being able to get this far, I am grateful to God and to you my faithful followers. Without you this would not have been possible. I am indebted to you. Cheers to many more
